HTTP Referer request-header field

With this page you can check whether or not your browser transmits refer(r)er (Referer is the dearly grandfathered misspelling of ‘referrer’) information. If you change your preferences you will probably need to clear your cache and revisit this page.

Result

The referer field was not sent.

Note

The Referer request-header field should be either an URI reference, e.g.

http://tagsoup.com/cookbook/http/refer(r)er/

or not be sent at all. So-called ‘security’ desktop software has been witnessed to send infantile gimmicks like an ‘x-ed out address’ instead, joined by an advertisement for itself. The only purpose of such programs is to generate a lot of noise; but then, if you trust any aspects of network security to software that is deliberately ignorant of network protocols, you probably just got the notorious snake-oil you asked for.
